Do You Have A Pet?

I have always been an animal lover. There has never been a time in my life that I did not have pets of some sort. I've had everything from birds, cats, dogs, hamsters, and fish to mice and lizards. Currently I have three dogs, two Shih Tzu and an Akita.

Whether you  like the idea of animals in your home or not, there is certainly a lot to be said for pets. Did you know that stroking a cat or dog can actually lower your blood pressure and relieve stress? It's true!

And did you know that dogs make great companions? Some people prefer dogs that are rugged and that can handle living outdoors and others prefer a small animal that can be a constant companion. My Shih Tzu are just that. It's rare that I do not have one or both of them by my side. I have had them for eight years and cannot imagine life without them - in fact, I plan to add another member or two to my little fur family soon! I don't want either of my Shih Tzu to be left alone at any time - they are so used to each other's company that I am not sure one could survive without the other.

By the way, I have just set up the first and only true Shih Tzu membership site - you can check it out at:
Just Shih Tzu  If you like Shih Tzu you will love this membership!

But now back to pets. It is essential that you learn about the pet you intend to adopt before you get it. All pets require care and love. All have a certain amount of work and responsibility associated with them. But what they give back in return makes it all worthwhile.

The care of a pet can help teach a child responsibility - not to mention it adds a touch of caring to the child's life. Any child will take pride in a well trained dog or loving cat.

Fish can make wonderful pets also. Hours can be spent in front of a well decorated and furnished aquarium - better entertainment than TV or video games! And when it comes to birds, whether you enjoy song birds such as canaries or talkers such as parrots, they all can give back love and provide enjoyment for their owners.

Do I recommend owning pets - definitely - but only if you are prepared to offer the pet proper food and care - and perhas even more importantly -  LOVE!
